It is made of a co-polymer plastic blend and has anti-slip feet on both sides that assure stability during usage. The board is BPA-free and NSF certified, which makes it safe to use for food preparation. The material does show some scarring from the knives but does not affect the knives' sharpness. The board cleans up easily in the dishwasher. The board has limitations in terms of temperature, and it is not suitable to place anything over 170 degrees on it. It is said to be 1/2" thick, but the thickness is only at the 4 corners where the grippy material is located, and the board itself is 3/8" thick. The size of the board is quite big, which makes it a hand-wash item that needs to be stored away from other cutting boards. The corner hook is handy and does not get in the way. Overall, the San Jamar CBG121812GNGR Cutting Board is a great purchase, as per its price point.
