The answer on the bottle, which is probably due to government regulations and how the product was specifically tested (in my opinion), says it's not recommended at all for kids under 12 so the company will not respond and tell you how much to give of their product for kids younger than 12, and no one else can pull that number out of a hat, either. However, you can look at the ingredients and make your own decision.

Do these actually soothe your throat?

It does help soothe my throat. Not sure how well it soothes a severe sore throat.

I would say this particular Zarbee product is really designed to aid individuals who have a cough. There are certainly other Zarbee products that would fit the bill as a dietary supplement. In fact, I take Zarbee Elderberry for just that reason.

Zarbee's Naturals 99% Honey Cough Soothers are a natural remedy for sore throats and coughs. These cough soothers have a natural cherry flavor and do not contain aspartame. They come in a package of 14 drops and each piece has 25mg of Vitamin C, which is 28% of daily value. The syrup comes directly from Zarbee's and is not heated to keep it natural. This product works best for mild sore throats and doesn't taste great. However, it is a healthier option than other cough drops on the market.
