I can not remember, but I believe they were a heavy plastic. They did the job and went over well. I am sure if you have big bucks to spend you get get a metal..

Is there a template or sticker product where you can design the image that you want printed?Answer : There is a paper already inside! I measured it and then printed out what I wanted on the medal and placed it inside. But if you are creating your own there is already paper to do so!
