The author effectively draws the reader into the story from the beginning with a shocking prelude. The story is heartbreaking, entertaining, sad, scary, and, in Tremblay's signature style, also humorous. Although adapted to a different kind of pandemic reality, Tremblay's book has successfully grasped the accuracy of how the best-laid plans can go sideways. It is a page-turner that is hard to put down.
